When we first met Melanie Barnett and Derwin Davis in The Game's pilot episode (an episode of Girlfriends), we saw how demanding life with an athlete was for the medical student. Melanie made many personal and career sacrifices to support her then-rookie wide receiver boyfriend, which led to a lot of drama.

Take a trip back to where it all started with Dabl's The Game marathon on October 12, 2026, as we celebrate 20 years of the series. From Derwin becoming a mini version of the Sabors' star quarterback Malik Wright to his cheating scandal with Drew Sidora, Melanie's journey to finding herself, their rekindled relationship, baby mama drama with Janae, and more, there is nothing like revisiting the moments that made the show entertaining.

We cannot forget the rest of the hilarious main cast. Tasha Mack, Malik's mom and manager, is the oldest and wisest of the group but still goes through her own growing pains. Malik is all about women and money, plus talking about how good he looks. Kelly and Jason Pitts seem like the average IT football couple, with Kelly heading the Sunbeams since Jason is a veteran on the team. Yet their marriage issues and Jason being cheap strain their unity.

Later in the seasons, viewers were introduced to other characters, but these core six were why we started watching the series, and the seasons with them are among the best.
